Saw one going for sale, hadnt seen one of these in the flesh before. Any opinions on how they feed etc gents, its a short case for that action Im thinking.
Also wondered where the 94 rates strength wise .Without getting into a safety lecture, is it capable of 'rossi 92/ruger only' loads so to speak...or do we treat these more like a marlin 94

Re: Win 94 in 44mag 24" barrel
I have one with a round barrel. It shoots amazing but the chamber is very short so it can be finicky about bullet length/profile. I believe its designed for 180-240gr. Mine will not feed heavies. That being said with 180-200s it is superbly accurate and capable of 1moa which, at least for me, is pretty good.

I really wanted to run the 300 grain LFN but it just doesnt like them. I can run them if I use 44 special brass but I hate doing that.

Re: Win 94 in 44mag 24" barrel
Had one of the early 94 carbines in .44 Magnum and these were notorious for the lifter breaking. This happened to both mine and my buddy's, but we were lucky to have a Winchester warranty gun shop in the next town and the smith installed the new parts and got us right back in business. Wasn't loading much cast in those days, so I never ran into OAL issues.
