Located near beautiful Raton, New Mexico, the NRA Whittington Center is home to the nation’s premier hunting and shooting facility. Founded in 1973, the Center offers ranges for every kind of shooting discipline, a shotgun center, a firearms museum, specialized firearms training, guided and unguided hunts, RV and tent camping, plus an adventure camp for younger shooters and hunters.

The NRA Whittington Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies on the generous contributions of donors who want to preserve our heritage of shooting and hunting for future generations of freedom-loving Americans.

As 2024 comes to a close, it’s time to take a look at what the Whittington Center has accomplished this year with your help – and to look forward toward the new year ahead.

This year:

• More than 120,000 visitors passed through our gates.

• Guest stays at our lodging facilities were up more than 6% over 2023.

• We hosted 236 competitive events for more than 4,800 shooters, including more national-level and world-level events than ever before. During the New Mexico State Trap & Sporting Clay Championships alone – attended by competitors from all around the nation – more than 350,000 clay targets were thrown. Laid side by side, that’s enough targets to stretch for 24 miles!

• We completed exterior construction on our 4,000 square foot museum addition to provide not only additional display space but also additional classroom space and more room for our Pro Shop.

• We once again hosted our Adventure Camps for more than 100 young people who each had the opportunity to send more than 1,200 rounds downrange, as well as our unique week-long Women’s Wilderness Escape.

These are just a few of the highlights of what our supporters like you helped us achieve this past year. And in 2025 we hope to accomplish even more, with your continued help.

Already, we’ve scheduled some top-tier new events to take place at the Whittington Center for the very first time. We’ll be putting the completing touches on our museum displays (more about that below). We’ll be remodeling several of our cabins, including our Brownell Suites, in time for the 2025 season. And our Adventure Camps are already full for 2025 with a waiting list.

We owe it all to friends like you. Through your support, you’ve truly made the Whittington Center America’s Greatest Shooting Destination. We thank you. We appreciate your role in our success. Been years since I visited the center with my then-young daughter on the way to Philmont. Haven't shot there -- yet.

Haven't been there since 2018 -- sounds like its high time i scheduled another trip

Stayed in a cabin for a couple of days- it was communal and a group of elk hunters were there at the same time but they were out so early and came back so late it was of no consequence - had the ranges to myself and burned up a whole lot of ammo. Saw a bunch of wildlife and read a couple of books

Cut my trip a day short and came on back home because it was TOO relaxing

Love the Whittington Center! 5 hours North of me you'd think I would visit more often. Achieved a bucket list item in 2021 by hitting the buffalo with my Sharps 45 2.1 and black powder.

That's a tough shot. I did it with my .30-30 Model 94 and cast 190 gr. bullet ... but it took me forever to get the range. Had to make a home-made rear sight to get enough elevation.

Wind ate my lunch that day, thunderstorms and wind that kept shifting direction. Made my year! Especially when I figured out that I did it with a vernier sight that was plumb.
