"I KNOW JACK"

Post by Old No7 »

I've been meaning to take this picture for quite awhile... I had a friend who also likes Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey come over the other night, and he didn't believe me when I said I had "13 different varieties" (in proof or flavor profiles). And he was right --

-- I really had 18 when we finished counting!!! :D

Per my forum name and avatar, I guess this is proof that: "I KNOW JACK" :wink:

Here's the line-up:

From L to R, my collections starts off with their Rye whiskies:

Then moving into their flavored varieties (not a big fan of these, but have tried them in various cocktails):

Now we're moving up in proof towards "Jack Black":

Here's 3 higher-end varieties (the No. 27 maple-barrel-made version is now off the market):

And finally, their premium versions -- with the Sinatra variety being my favorite (and the 3rd most expensive, versus the 10- and 12-year old limited-bottling varieties):

There are a few other variations which are too rich for my blood -- the Coy Hill Barrelhouse No.7 (from their best barrelhouse), and the Twice-Barreled No.7 (finished in a Sherry barrel after aging in a charred oak barrel), and years ago I had stopped collecting the various bottle variations and designs, as I realized that I was drinking the Tennessee Whiskey -- but paying extra for the glass.

Gee, now I'm thirsty!

Many years ago when I first started drinking American whiskey and bourbon I thought it would be a good idea to try all the different brands :roll: I obviously gave up on that idea as for every new to me brand I found there were even more out there so not wanting to spend all my spare cash and ruin my liver on a futile pursuit I just settled for JD, JB and Makers Mark. Seeing 18 different types of JD is mind blowing and I obviously don't know Jack so now I'm thinking I should perhaps go on the wagon :lol:

Wow, D, you are an enthusiast indeed! I had no idea there were so many variants -- or that they produced a rye. Guess I need to spend more time at Kelly's Liquors here with a notepad. :lol:

When I imbibe which is seldom, I drink tequila which unlike bourbons and whiskeys is not hard on my stomach.

Nope -- that's just Tennessee Whiskey in a fancy bottle. I don't drink glass and won't pay extra for it anymore... :wink:

But a close friend who saw my collection said I was missing 3 others...
* Got Fired Jack
* Wife Cheated Jack
* Crashed My Truck Jack

I don't have those either...

I've been a Tennessee Squire since the early 80's and have visited my 1 square inch of land on the property a few times over the last 40 years when we were in the area. While I don't have the extensive array of products, I'm a regular partaker of Gentleman Jack as it's one of my favorite sipping drinks (along with Buffalo Trace).
