Been visiting it since the late 1980's. I haven't been there lately. I know the collection is large enough they could not show it all and would put some away and bring out others at various times. Lots of really nice guns and gun history.
I stopped once on the way back from a New Mexico elk hunt and spent 2-3 hours. It was interesting and he owned every type of gun one could imagine.
When we were leaving asked about a barbecue place and the women told us about a little hole in the wall place just down the road. The owner fed us a variety of his cooking and it was almost a better memory than the museum.
I've been through the Davis Museum a couple times and it's not just a great collection, but an amazing story how Davis got where he did considering where he began! Not sure if it's still the same now, but both times we went you simply gave a donation when you got to the exit. I was told his will gave the collection to the state, but specified they couldn't charge people to view it. We gave generously as I felt it was well worth it.
I've stopped by a couple of times over the years. The latest was during one of my 'Lap Arounds' of Oklahoma and Texas that lasted over 3 weeks. It's a great place to visit and has a much different flavor than the Cody Firearms Museum in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, WY, which also have a large firearms collection.
