The fun part of living in the country.

Post by 2ndovc »

Made a little time today to shoot a couple of 9mms I've had for a few months and haven't had the time to shoot.

Both pistols preferred the the 124 gr Winchester JFPs over the Federal 147s. Target was only 15 yds out but didn't do too badly shooting offhand for the first time in over two months.
I'm really pleased with the Reimported German/ custom 1911. There's ten rounds in that target, the first three are off to the right a bit as I was getting used to how it shoots. Not a big fan of the slick, smooth target grips, but that's an easy fix. That dark blue finish is just screaming for a set of stags. :D

Almost as pleasing is the Springfield SA-35 High Power. Shoots and feeds perfectly and the trigger is better than any High Power I've ever had.

Busy day, but it was a nice break to get outside and do something fun for a change.

That'll work! I have been really wanting a High Power, but don't want to pay what the Brownings are bringing.

The Springfields have been coming down. Competition from Girsan and other importers. Quality on those varies quite a bit, but an optics-ready with a rail does looking interesting.

Jason, I bet the SA-35 feels great. Eliminating the magazine disconnect does wonders for the trigger pull. Happy to see you getting out to enjoy some time shooting! :D

I picked up the Springfield used at a shop I stopped by after looking at an ins. claim south of me. It's nearly new and if it had been fired, it was only a few times. Two magazines, factory bag and box for under $600. Couldn't pass that up and yes the lack of the mag disconnect makes a big difference.

An excellent way to spend the day with a great choice of firearms. I will stick with my Browning HPs

Sounds like a nice few minutes break. I am thankful to live in the country and have my own land to shoot on. At one time, I shot nearly daily for several years. That helps a lot to keep you honed.

I've yet to have/try a High Power of any variety. I sure like the looks of them though.

I've always sort of had a thing for the Smith 39 and variants, though I don't have any currently.

That's the one thing I had in Colorado that I miss- a 50yd deep silage pit, a 20 yard walk from the door to my private shooting range.

Had a buddy that engraved with silver inlay the front of the slide/dust cover on the muzzle of his Hi-Power
