Winner's circle

Post by GunnyMack »

Our huntin & fishin club has been doing a clays shoot for many years. Since I got into the club back in '16 and like an idiot I made it known that I'm a clay target shooter they made me the Trap Committee Chairman.
So each October we throw a small shoot. About 4 years ago I found a guy that will set up a course on your property for a very nominal fee. The guys get a real kick out of shooting at something different than the old hand cocked Trius trap. This guy has 2 rabbit machines, wobble machine, and 4 others that he can set to throw just about anyhow you want. These are MEC traps and throw some real nice targets.
Today was the shoot.
Today was my 4th win, 23/25. I missed the first bird out, then my competition Neanderthal hindbrain took over and I crushed the next 20 targets, missed my 22nd and smoked the last two rabbits.
Sometimes I think I shouldn't shoot but stand behind the others that struggle to break targets but then I think I pay my dues so have fun.
Oh and the past 3 wins were had with a 28ga, today I shot my old 12ga Mauser o/u skeet gun. Next year I'll shoot the new to me Miroku Charles Daley I'm picking up this week.

Congratulations! Yes, you should absolutely compete. Sooner or later, someone will come along and beat you... when I started setting up cowboy action shoots here in North Texas, it took nearly a year before someone came along that regularly cleaned my clock. Partly because I no longer practiced, and he did.
