What a difference a day makes. Yesterday, it was mid 80's and sunny but the clouds came in the afternoon and it rained most of the night in our valley while it snowed at the higher peaks. Some high peaks got as much as 8" of snow. Not bad for the first day of fall.
Today it's 48 and cloudy here (summer to winter in 1 day) so instead of going to the range to shoot, I decided to load up some 30-30 plinking rounds with the brass I collected the other day from a quick trip to our range. In all, I got almost a full 5 gal bucket of assorted brass and I sorted it at home for possible useful brass and found 48 pieces of Win 30-30 brass, 56 pieces of Win .308 brass and 12 pieces of Rem. 30-06 brass that looked to be fresh, once fired so I tumbled and case prep'd them and put them in a baggie for further inspection and possible use.
I also found 152 pieces of Win .45 acp brass and 37 pieces of Win .357 Mag brass that look fresh and new so I tumbled them and put them into a baggie for further inspection and possible use. The rest of the brass was either obviously reloaded or random head stamps so those went into my scrap bin for sale to the metal recycler.
Here in Colorado we don't usually use a 30-30 for hunting as the ranges typically are longer than the round is effective at. I have a 30-30 'just because' so I shoot mostly about 2,000 fps plinking loads using 33.5 grns of W-760 I have a keg of I got at a steal about 12 years ago for my son's Win model 70 30-06.
So, this morning I took out the 48 pieces I set aside, checked them and determined that they were in fact once fired. Then I took some of my X-Treme plated 150 grn plinkers, some W-760 powder and a few of my stock of Win LR primers and added to my plinker stock.
If I can't shoot, then making more ammo is the next best thing.

Good use of the day, Steve. I just loaded some .38 Specials with the excellent Lee 358-158 RF bullet over 4.0 grains of Universal this afternoon. We finally have thunderstorms coming this afternoon, and the weather service is teasing us with a low of 59 tonight, which would be by far the coolest morning since April or so. Not willing to put away my shorts just yet.

Me either. The forecast for the end of the week is back in the low 80's here. Fall in the Rockies is 'interesting'.

It was 92 at 4 p.m. and 68 at 5 p.m. here after the storms hit. Now 59, but with 100 percent humidity it might still be shorts weather.

Fall arrived here in Missouri like the Kool Aide man kicking in the door! In the 90s last week and sunny, today it's thunderstorms and highs in the 60s. Doesn't hurt my feelings at all.

Re: What a Difference a Day Makes!
I sure miss the change of seasons in Colorado, one day it's spring like then the next it's winter then summer all in one week!
What I really miss is watching the thunderstorms build over the front range, I love a good thunderstorm!
