Re: Round Counts
Nope, I keep records of my reloads but that's so I know what loads I've found that shoot the best out of a particular gun. Once the load is settled I don't bother keeping records so strictly but it gives me something to go back and compare to if accuracy falls of someday (hasn't happened to me yet)....

I only have one ported firearm. A Ruger #1 I stumbled upon in a gunstore on consignment. $650 out the door, it had already been Mag-Na-Ported and had a Pachmeyr Decelerator pad professionally installed and came with a nice Leupold already mounted. Quite the deal! Of course that was back when I thoug...

I second what CRS said above. I have three Miroku 1895's, nothing else comes close. Is there a difference between the Miroku and the USRAC 1895s? My USRAC JapChester 1895 in 405 is pretty stiff, but then again I haven't shot it much...50 rounds? It's a beast. As far as I know Miroku has made all th...

I always preferred the shorter carbine and trapper length barrels. I live out in the desert so there isn't really any place where brush is going to be in my way with a longer barrel and with irons the longer barrels give me a longer sight radius, I just prefer the look of the shorter barrels.

Bustin' Caps with a Miroku .30-40 UPDATED
Went out earlier to take advantage of the overcast morning to test my latest load for my Miroku 1895 .30-40 Krag. I'm trying to find something it liked with these cheaper Hornady 220 grain RN before I test out the much costlier Woodleigh version. I'm so smart I forgot to take pictures of the target ...

4895 wasn't that impressive out of my .30-40, I mean it was a great low recoil round but it didn't group well. The upper end of 4064 shrunk those groups but still I think it could do better. For the Winchester 1892 the "3-C" front sight ramp was special order until it became standard after 1931 (post serial # one million). But they are rare due to old style barrels still in stock being used up and slow sales during the depression. Information pulled from page 379 of "The ...

Marlin 1895 and 336 are essentially the same action, one of those could be dropped from that list.
