Sometimes newer isn’t better

I’ve been messing around with.45 ACP revolvers for some time. I’ve come to seriously distrust some of the MIM parts in newer S&W revolvers. But my old S&W 1937 seemed different to me because of the old longer action. But the problem doesn’t seem to be a problem at all after swapping out the ...

I sat out on Sunday and watched this young buck from about 20 yards. He was spooked but he could not figure out why. He had an 8 point rack, but the horns were inside his ears and he was perfectly safe as he was not legal. But I would bet that he would taste as good as a legal deer. Congratulations!...

Happy Thanksgiving! I’ve developed the habit of starting my day giving thanks to the Lord for all of the wonderful people and things he has blessed me with. I’m just as grateful for the challenges and struggles because I don’t seem to grow unless I’m challenged.

In brotherly love,

I have the same trouble with grips like that. They look great, but I need a bit more support toward the heel of my hand.

That's one of the reasons I like a square butt N frame with the magna style grips.

I'm not pushing the .45 Colt as hard as some folks do. I'm fond of a 270 SAA bullet sized to .454 over 13 gr of HS-6 at the moment. My Rossi 92 loves it as does my Ruger Blackhawk. Not too much, but plenty. But I also like shooting the Hornady 255 gr Cowboy bullet over 8.5 gr of Unique. Seems to sho...

My handgun shooting limits me to 40-50 yards. But I can reach out there with the .45 Colt in a rifle. I load a lot of the Hornady Cowboy bullets over 8.5 gr of Unique and I treat it like a big .22. Seems to shoot well in my revolvers and both of my leverguns. I don't think that load is too stressful...

Favorite combinations. (Rifle and handgun)

I like the idea of using the same cartridge for bumming around with both my rifle and revolver.

But when I carried a gun for serious business my levergun was a .30-30 because of the extra power and penetration.

This combo of a .44 Special and a .30-30 made sense.
