Re: For you older guys, what type of shooting glasses do you wear?
I should use them but dont. I have strong astigmatisms and dry eyes which fluctuate how well I see at any given time and with heat and swamp moisture I get tired of them fogging up and getting dirty. I stick to red dots these days, or should I say 'red crooked L shape slashes' which is what I percie...

Yes not sure where I got 600 from, probably because woodleigh lists it. My first choice was actually one of the modern 1860 spencer repros in 56-50 which would also save a few dollars. Checked into the cas forums and it can be pretty hit and miss apparently. One fella reviewed 7 guns and only consid...

its impressive what the alaskan can do. I think the 535 grain woodleigh was made for the 500 jeffery though,... factory velocity was 2400fps. Same calibre as the 500 nitro of course and they can interchange bullets but 500 nitro's traditional loads were 2150fps with the 570grain and 600 grain bullet...

Looking to add a bigbore lever action to my very small collection. I looked at 50-95 in ubertis and the spencer carbine but decided they are a bit hit and miss with chambers etc. So less traditional, but the 500S&W is on the radar now. Just considering the advantages. Its a 50cal, which smaller ...

Folks just wondered if one can use the same data for plated bullets as for cast? Looking to try some 158gn plinking loads with small charges of clays. I normally play around sub 3 grains with this powder but being plated I'm assuming I should err a little heavier to ensure bullet exits barrel?

I thought one of those 'velocity versus barrel length' sites used single-shot Contender or Encore barrels and cut them off inch-by-inch, and part of their reasoning was to not violate laws when they got below 16" if the cartridge was a 'rifle' one. Doc Some do. The most quoted site these days ...

if something goes bump here it will probably only be 4 legged animals. I would probably unfold my chiappa 410ga/22Lr if needed which has a flashlight under the barrel. The 410 has a 5x000 buck load, no horde stopper, but no fun to get hit by either.

The countries I saw in Africa all had strict gun control laws but no control of guns. It seems the the less freedoms the people had, the worse they behave. Very hard to convince folks back home of this though who beieve passing stricter gun laws means better behaviour will result
