Over the years have managed to keep a couple of pre-war Model 71s and still reload for them with the last of my Kodiak 250s and discontinued Hornady 200 gr Interloks. The original question involved the 44 SPL vs 9mm. If you do not need to penetrate anything much (auto glass, car doors, etc.) the 44 hands down. It will also serve to protect blued finishes. I use
it on Parker, Fox and LC Smith goose-turkey guns.
