Re: The Humor Thread
Two Mexicans are stuck in the desert, wandering aimlessly and close to death. They are close to just lying down and waiting for the inevitable, when all of a sudden... “Hey Pepe, do you smell what I smell? Ees bacon, I is sure of eet.” “Si, Luis, eet smells like bacon to meee.” So with renewed stren...

OT: shipping a O/U shotgun proper packaging?
I've been entrusted with packaging my recently deceased fathers Wetherby O/U up for shipment to a repair center before it goes on to my little brother. Needless to say this is something that I cant screw up. Here is the plan so far: 1. Cut up a gun sock and cover each piece of the gun. 2. Wrap each ...

I think our resident doctor has the winning suggestion so far.
I've got the entire state of Idaho on CD but there is no way I'm packing a laptop in to some of the places I go.

OT : Storing Topo maps ?
Can anyone recommend a good way to store USGS Topo maps? Rolled up in a tube works; but it is kind of a pain to find the specific one I'm looking for. Flat in a drawer would be great if I had a drawer that big. Am I missing something or is that just the way it is?

Joe, We faced the same problem when the wife an I moved to Idaho from Florida. Low on $$ but lots of stuff. We ended up taking keepsake items and stuff that could never be replaced. We sold off everything else. Is the 5 year old couch or kitchen table worth the money it would take to move it? Turn t...

Re: Savage 24C Series R
Paul,
I'd try to shoot some degreaser in the firing pin hole for the 22 barrel. If that doesn't cure it I'd get a new firing pin for it. They are neat little guns. I bought one of the newer ones a few weeks ago to use as a truck gun. Just Google savage 24 and you can find plenty of info.

I can understand your hesitation. I have a sako bolt action .222 that was my grandfathers it came to me without the magazine . It was a little searching, to find a replacement magazine and it was not cheap.

I'm a type 1 diabetic on Novalog and Lantus. I can highly recommend using a "pen" over the old style syringe. I would also recommend using the thinnest needle you can get into your hide. I use a BD ultra 31g 5/16" needle 4 times a day. If I'm paying attention when I inject myself it i...

I have one of the Argentine military copies that I like really well. Heavy rubber grips and cheesy black kylon type finish; uglier then sin but nice to shoot. Try taking a look at some of the Mojo sights. Replaces the rear sight with a peep and is a drop in, so no permanent modifications.

I’ll second handrrandyrc. At 200 to 300 yards you will need a heavier bullet than a 55grn for decent accuracy in any kind of wind. Take a look at the bullets offered by Sierra and Hornady that are geared toward NRA Highpower/CMP shooting with the AR-15. My personal preference is for the 69grn sierra...

This may not be exactly what your looking for but I found it interesting. “Baronets and Buffalo : The British Sportsman in the American West 1833-1881” By John I. Merritt. I thought enough of it to buy it for future reference after reading it from the library if that tells you anything.

Varget or IMI 3031 both work well in AR15's. Infact Varget and Dillion 550 progressive machines are used by most of the NRA Highpower rifle shooters at the club I belong to and produce match grade ammo with little fuss. A good micrometer seating die with a floating bullet guide is the secret to good...
