Re: brass build up on expander plug?

I've run into the same problem with NEW brass on occasion. Each time I found that there was a "burr" type edge on the inside of the case mouth from the manufacturing process. I found that chamfering the inside of the case mouth and using a dry lubricant inside the neck took care of the pro...

Re: Browning BLR

I've got a BLR in 257 Roberts sitting in the safe for my sons to use when they get older. Neat rifle, light and fast, and a joy to shoot...... Not a caliber you often find in a BLR, but it makes a perfect deer rifle. :D

Re: O/T mini .22 kid guns

When facing the same problem of finding a rifle for my two sons, the absolute best rifle I found was the CZ Scout. It fit them the best and was the most accurate and highest quality. also has a decent trigger too. It comes with a single shot adapter, but can use the CZ 5 and 10 shot magazines as the...

Re: 1954 Win 94 bulging cases

The bulge that you are noting is also known as the "expansion ring". It is the place where the chamber pressure is finally able to overcome the strength of the brass cartridge case and plastically push the case outward until it is stopped by the chamber wall. It is present to one degree or...

Re: OT: Ever have a dog with Trigeminal Neuritis? (updated)

My German Shorhair Pointer just came down with the same thing. One evening he is fine, the next morning he has sagging eyes, and drooping jaw, can't eat or drink. Mainly the jaw and facial muscles are paralized, and the tongue to a lesser degree. The vet neurologist said that in most cases it cures ...

Re: OT - Performance Chips

A couple of things to remember about the Tacoma: The Tacoma computer is adaptive and adjusts to your driving style. Drive it hard, and the computer will adjust to give better performance at the expense of ecomomy. At low to moderate throttle settings the truck computer adjusts to maximize economy. R...

Re: Pimped Out Luger

It would have been a nice (and valuable) gun if it had not been abused by plating... As it is now, the luger is worth about $600 to $700 as a shooter. It currently has no collector value. None of the luger factories (including Mauser) made "custom" lugers during the war, and NONE were fact...

Re: Ot-Browning GP Comp

My GP Comp is the best shooting 9mm pistol that I have ever found, even shooting better than the excellent Sig 210. When I was a shooting more often I could get 3/4" five shot groups at 25 yards from My GP Comp. After I bought mine, 5 other friends decided that they had to have one too. I've sh...

I think it will work quite well in the 30-06 with 180 grain bullets. It is certainly worth giving it a try!!!!

I have used quite a lot of Accurate MRP and have been very pleased with it. I use it in the 270 Winchester and the 257 Roberts. It seems to have a burning rate very similar to H4831. 60 grains in the 270 coupled with a 130 grain bullet generates about 3100 fps and exceptional accuracy in my stainles...

The Browning 1885 Traditional Hunter rifles (Both Low Wall and High Walls) did have rear tangs, and came supplied with at rear tang sight that looks exactly the same as the one made by Marbles. Winchester also made a similar 1885 High Wall rifle that also had a tang and came equiped with the Marbles...

Yes, too hard of bullet for your moderate pressure loads.. One thing that I have found that does help with this situation is to tumble lube the bullets with Lee Liquid Alox tumble lube. Just put a hundred or so of the bullets in a plastic container (Margerine container works great.). Squirt in some ...
