need a smith for Euroarms 1873 leveraction.

Just picked up the Euroarms 1873 Winchester 44/40 I had been looking at. But it has some problems. The whole barrel is overtightend a bit. I didn't see this in the shop, but it was obvious once outside. The sights are leaning to the left, the extractor is toughing the right side of the cut, and the ...

Re: Price Check, Model 94 BB/ .375 Win. (bought it!)

Jason, I run a stock front sight on mine as well with the same sight that txpete has, I've thought about a blade, but the stock works fine. I just took off my front hood. I need to post a pic of mine also. txpete's looks like mine when it was a year old. Mine is "seasoned" but is still bea...

Re: Price Check, Model 94 BB/ .375 Win. (bought it!)

thanks for the load txpete. I have loaded 270s with the data fro the speer number 10 manuel in the '80s, and Hawk 270s recently. They were great and I bet the 280s are better. I believe my rifle was 399.00 or 419.00 nib in 1981. It was a present for my 12th birthday and took a muley about 4 days lat...

Re: Price Check, Model 94 BB/ .375 Win. (bought it!)

thats the exact sight I have had on mine for 29 years TxPete! I have loaded 270s for my .375 but I love the look of those 280s. What is your load for those? I have never recovered bullets from mine as well, even with factory Winchester 200s on muleys, large pigs, goats, coyotes, and whatever else. L...

still cant decide on Euroarms '73 44-40

My local shop still has a used Euroarms 1873 44-40 carbine for a great price. But, I'm still hessitant, I see Uberti parts everywhere, and am concerned that if it needs something one day, they won't be correct. Is this rifle as close to originals as Ubertis? Or, I should ask, is it close to a Uberti...

Chapparel quality

I know that this has been already discussed some time or another. How is the quality of Chapparel arms 1876s and 1873s comparid to a Uberti? Are the Uberti parts interchangeable? These things are really affordable but that also worries me. Any info helps. Rob

Re: Price Check, Model 94 BB/ .375 Winchester.

you'll like this rifle, I have one I've had since 1981. It will blow a train tunnel through stuff, I can't believe it did not become more popular. Recoil is stiff, but I like that. Stars and Stripes has a 250gr load for it and Reed's had 200 and 220s for it. If you reload than that isnt an issue, yo...

Re: big bore 94 ammo sticking in magazine.

Yep, It will fix easy, just need to know if a new tube is longer than mine? Can anyone see how long others are? That has to be it, Ive fired it at least 250 rounds a year since December of 1981 with no failure until I rebarreled. I don't know why this combo didnt sell better, it will blow a train tu...

Re: big bore 94 ammo sticking in magazine.

I got the specs of my tube and what I need. The mag tube is 19 5/16" OAL. The measurement from the base of the tube to the front edge of the end cap screw hole on the side that faces the barrel is 19 1/8". This matches the measurement from the seating surface of the reciever and my old bar...

Re: OT - True Grit Trailer

Isnt the book an autobiography written by Matty Ross herself? I read this in '91, it is great. The book was already much darker than the movie, the fight at the end was rough, so was the snake bite ordeal.

Re: big bore 94 ammo sticking in magazine.

Thanks for all the help guys. You are right, the tubes were fit to the individual barrel length, new ones should be a little long to allow fitting. I was told by a friend that is a Winchester history maniac that the barrels could be anywhere from 19 3/4 to 20 1/4 inches from the factory. They starte...

Re: big bore 94 ammo sticking in magazine.

my bevel is fine, no rough spots, but I looked at the old barrel, it is about 1/8th inch shorter distance to the groove for the front band screw and the hole for the end cap screw measured from the reciever out. The gap under the bottom of the tube is allowing the case rims to move over and hit the ...

big bore 94 ammo sticking in magazine.

I have a Winchester 94 big bore in .375. I have had it for 29 years, (bought new in 1981) and never had any problems until I had it rebarreled. I found .375 barrels at Numrich gun supply very reasonable and got one. After it has been installed the problem started. The rifle shoots great as new, but ...

who makes Euroarms 1873s? How good are they?

I have a chance to buy a Euro arms 1873 44-40. I have never heard of them and wanted a Uberti. Are they good? Do they make there own or get them from somebody else?
thanks,
Rob
