Re: I heard the Gander MT. has just opened a guns only store

They have done the same thing in Reynoldsburg, OH (Columbus suburb). Transferred a regular Gander Mountain store into a primarily firearms/tactical/shooting accessories store. Much better selection than the old store. I thought it was a response by GM to the recently opened Cabelas nearby.

Re: What if's/your next possible purchase?

ok...I'm gonna get a Colt SAA...and I mean it this time. Yeh, they're probably overpriced, but not they're not getting any cheaper. I have to have one before I head to the great prairie in the sky. Sorry, Bill Ruger.

Re: OT: Does anyone have a 1911 style that never malfunctions?

I've not had a single malfunction with either of my colt gov't models. A series 80 and a WWI repro. I shoot nothing but reloads. Wish I could say the same for my Springfield GI. The Springer shoots well, but will hiccup now and again.

Re: OT - Remington 1911A1

For the record, Remington-UMC did make some M1911s in 1917. They produced 21,000+ before the contract was cancelled at wars end.... I have a few 1911's in the safe with my levers and single-action revolvers, unfortunately, none of them original "Remingtons"

Re: Somewhat OT - What got you started into reloading?

I guess I started years ago because 45 Colt ammo was so expensive (early 80's - before the CAS craze). I was buying 45 acp, 30 WCF and 30.06. I started getting into levers and single action revolvers and decided to learn on 45 Colt. Now I load everthing (45 Colt, 45-70, 44mag/spl, 30 WCF, 30.06, 375...

Thanks for the info guys. I'll go down tomorrow and take a closer look. It sure looked authentic. Now that I've got some background information from you and the WWW, I can ask some semi-intelligent questions. I'll let you know what I find out.

Well..........cheap as in $229. I know should be a no-brainer, cheapest I've seen on GB is $595. I've continued my research, also. It's a definitely a 577/.450 MH Artillery model. Tons of proof marks on it. I didn't give it as close as an inspection as I would have liked. There's a Trapdoor Springfi...

OT - 577 Martini-Henry Questions

A carbine version of one of these just showed in my local gunshop (for real cheap). I've done a little internet research tonight. Seems like an interesting and historic firearm. I recall occasional forum topics about these on the old forum. A search shows 6 on this forum, none really talking about f...

grinch, Call : Dick's Gun Room, Cuyahoga Falls, OH (330) 929-1181. If they don't gunsmith there, I'm sure they can direct you to someone. They have an awesome selection of used levers, of which I've relieved them of a few. I live in Columbus and only get up there when I visit my parents. So I don't ...

I've got a Springer (mil-spec). I actually like the low profile "combat" sights. Shoots very well, eats anything and I have no problems with aftermarket mags. Parkerized finish does nick up. Paid $379.00 new, several years ago.

My favorite is the Powder Room in Powell, OH. Although a little more expensive than Vance's (another good store in Columbus, OH), I like the guys that run the shop. It's , also, my indoor shooting range.
