Re: new LEVERevolution round for .45-70
yea, well it'll probably have better range then the 325 grain, its 75 grains lighter, it'll probably have a 200 yard point blank range if they load it to the same pressure as the 325 version. Yea i'm waiting for that one to come out also. You could reload it to 2600fps, make it a 200 yard gun.

new LEVERevolution round for .45-70
I just saw on Hornady's website, they are selling a new line of LEVERevolution ammo called the "monoflex" line, they basically are the same as the original but use gilding metal instead of pure copper and they offer a 250 grain round for .45-70, the 250 grain round is probably excellent fo...

Re: need help loading barnes 250 grain TSX for .45-70
I have loaded the Barnes 250 TSX to exceed 2500 FPS in my 1886 .45-90s, but settled on a slightly slower load for deer hunting. 52.5/RL7 gives 2200 FPS and the bullet had a devastating effect on a nice Blacktail buck. The bullet entered the behind the right shoulder, destroyed the deer's lugs and h...

need help loading barnes 250 grain TSX for .45-70
I've never reloaded in my life but came up with the idea the other day for a load that would fill the niche for home defense and deer hunting and maybe an occasional coyote or two. I saw the 250 grain Barnes triple shock X which looks like a really good bullet. I have a buffalo bore 300 grain box no...

Re: Accident 45/70
You guys are fooled by the picture take a closer look it's a BLACK WIDOW OR BROWN RECLUE SPIDER BITES THAT HEALED UP AND THE FLESH DIED, if you notice the blackish color on the outside of the wounds thats GANGRENE, the surgeons probably cut the flesh out cause it had all the venom in it to prevent f...

re finishing stock on malrin 1895
hey all i have a marlin 1895 in .45-70 that i've had for 8 years now. I've taken it through some wild hunting trips and thick brush. I've noticed that some of the factory polyurethane is starting to fade on the forend and there are a few nicks and scratches on the surface. I was wondering if I could...

Re: tri-rail mount for marlin lever guns
Steve, my inanimate GUNS don't know or care what year it is... I am the one who has to contend with 2oth/21st-Century political nonsense in that regard. To my old-school mind, anything that detracts from a levergun's quick, slick balance and handling qualities is distraction at best, and a detrimen...

Re: tri-rail mount for marlin lever guns
Dont just make one for yourself. You need to see if you can get patent rights and sell them. It looks like half your work is done already. The drawing is nice, I ONLY SEE 3 RAILS! NO, I personally wont buy one as well as many members have stated as well. HOWEVER, I beleive many people will that enj...

Re: tri-rail mount for marlin lever guns
Looks bulky , but at 3 inches long it's probably going to be the right perportions. It looks well thought out for what you are trying to accomplish, with all the add on do-dads that are out there. I could see a market with hog hunters. You'll have to post a picture of it mounted on a gun when finis...

Re: tri-rail mount for marlin lever guns
I don't share the disdain for the innovative ideas that a couple of our members expressed. There seems to a cowboy parochialism on this board by many members. All I have to say to that is, much as some of you would like it, IT AIN'T 1890 ANYMORE. His levergun isn't going to be used in a 'gunfight o...

Re: tri-rail mount for marlin lever guns
the piece on the top is just a filler block so the screws aren't left exposed and so it limits water and grit messing up and rusting the screws or water seeping in between the mount and the barrel/mag tube. It will slide past the front sight no prob and then clamp in place with screws

Re: tri-rail mount for marlin lever guns
Thanks everyone for welcoming me. Just wanna say that the mount has 3 rails... one rail on each side and one rail on the bottom. Maybe the drawing was a little confusing. I personally will be putting a nice bright flashlight on there when I hunt black bear this fall in case I shoot something just be...

tri-rail mount for marlin lever guns
I've been customizing and tuning my marlin 1895 22" .45-70 the past few months as a hobby. And through all the research and reading i've done I've all ways wanted to accessorize it with a nice bright led light with high lumen capabilities and also just got a 3 beam laser and also maybe a UV lig...
