Re: Little Help---45 Colt
I've been getting fairly good results at an indoor range using 12g 2400 behind a 250 g cast swc in my Uberti 1873. Not too much Oooomph and fairly accurate - certainly plenty accurate enough for gong shooting. Have also tried 7.5 g Unique behind the same head with similar results. I also plan on try...

Re: Reloading help - reduced loads for 45-70
Hi All, Just back from the indoor range. As promised, here is how it wenty using 14g Trail Boss. Very mild load, pleasant to shoot. Not as accurate (in my gun anyway) as the 13g Unique loading, so I'll guess I'll stick to unique. If you want a mild, fairly accurate load to get someone accustomed to ...

Re: Reloading help - reduced loads for 45-70
I asked the same question a few weeks back (check out my earlier post) wanted a fairly light, but accurate load for indoor range work - someone suggested 13g of Unique. So I went with that behind a cast 330g swc. Results in my Pedersoli Sharps cavalry carbine were very good - mild to shoot and very,...

Re: Tang sight for Uberti 1873
Thanks again to everyone who posted. I have ordered the Marbles sight and am awaiting delivery. My '73 has a 24" barrel and is chambered for the .45 Colt. Now does anyone have any pet .45 loads that would work well in such a rifle? Powders I currently have are Unique, 2400, H4198, Trail Boss an...

Re: Tang sight for Uberti 1873
Thanks for the advice guys. Think I'll go for the Marbles with windage option - really looks the part on Bulldog's gun.
Take care all.

Tang sight for Uberti 1873
I'm looking to put a tang peep sight onto a Uberti 1873 special sporting in .45 Colt calibre. Any recommendations anyone? Also, would the standard front sight be OK to use with said tang, or would I also have to replace that? By the way - big thanks to TedH (and others) who pointed me in the directi...

Re: Light loads for the .45-70
Wow! Thanks to everyone for the informative (and super quick responses). I've got a tub of Unique lying around so I think I'll try out that 13g loading to start with. I'd also like to try the load recommended by Borregos, but I'm not sure whether Trail Boss is readily available over here (UK). Yes, ...

Light loads for the .45-70
Hi, I am a new member. I am looking for a fairly light target load (indoor range) for a .45-70. I read with interest one of Paco's articles, where he cites a couple of loads including 17g of 2400 and 5g of Bullseye. Given the various warnings out there about using low volumes of powder in high capac...
