Hawg Meat
Hey All, I have a question for all you Hawg Hunters - does the taste of the meat change during the various seasons? My Pop and I are going on our first Hawg Hunt in Texas in a few weeks and we were told that they might not taste as good this time of year. Any thoughts? Also, we both got our first le...

Bullets for Hawgs
Hi yall,
I've found that my new .30-30 likes the 170gr Winchester powerpoints. What do you guys think about using those on pigs?

Trigger Question
Thanks everyone for aiding me in getting my first levergun. Now come the other questions I love this Marlin 336 but want to know how to lighten up the trigger. Is it easy to do myself or can I just buy some new part and install that?
Thanks again!!

HAAAAA!!!!!!! Yeah, make sure to duck and cover if you toss that one at her. The "liberal chicks" I've met tend to be all emotion w/ very little interest in coming to logical conclusions about things.

First Levergun
Hi All, Finally after much debating and questioning, I got my first Levergun : a Marlin 336W. Picked her up at Wally World today, probably take it to the range tomorrow. BTW, two questions: what is a good factory bullet for hogs, and also, why does the .30-30 get such a bad rap? I took my first two ...

Marlin 336 variants
Hello everyone!! I had a question for the Marlin .30-30 guys out there. Is there any major difference between the Marlin 336A, 336W, and 336C? Is it all just cosmetic? Also, after many hours scouring the internet I'm still clueless as to whether a .30-30 is "enough gun" for pigs (ie. opini...

.30-30 Flexibility
Hi everyone,
I've been doing some pondering on how flexible the pistol caliber levers and the Big Bore levers seem to be. Where does the .30-30 stand in all of this? I know it can kill deer ( my first two were w/ a Marlin 336A last fall ), but what's the range of game it can reasonably take?

.444 vs. .45-70 reloading question
Hi All,
I wanted to see if yall had any opinions on which of these two would be better in terms of reloading. I'm mainly thinking about which would be cheaper.
Thanks in advance!!

Two Questions - .44mag range & Pig Hunting
Hi Everyone, I have two quick questions. One, what's the effective hunting range of a .44 mag levergun? Also, where do you shoot a hog? Is it the same as a deer? I ask because my Dad and I are going to hunt hogs in Texas this summer, but I've heard they can be hard to kill. Any advice? Thank you!! -...

I was thinking of picking up one of these in 30 - 30 on Gunbroker.com. Anyone have any experience w/ these. How do they compare to the Marlin's and Rossi's?
Thanks in advance!!

New Marlin .44 mag takedown
Hi yall, Maybe I'm going crazy or dreamed this, but I saw an article on a stainless Marlin 1894 in .44 mag ( in some gun mag at Wal Mart ). It isn't on the Marlin website hence my confusion. The thing is that it's a take down model and Marlin changed the rate of twist to 1:20 for heavier bullets. An...

I wanted to see what you all thought about these two cartridges for hunting deer sized game and up. How do they perform and which one kicks more?
Thanks in advance!!

Merits of a Levergun
I wanted to see what you all thought the merits of a levergun are. What are the pro's and what are the advantages they have over a bolt? I guess I'm mostly thinking in terms of hunting but whatever beyond that as well ( I deer hunt in woody / brushy terrain ).
