Hey All,
I have a question for all you Hawg Hunters - does the taste of the meat change during the various seasons? My Pop and I are going on our first Hawg Hunt in Texas in a few weeks and we were told that they might not taste as good this time of year. Any thoughts? Also, we both got our first leverguns for this outting. Me w/ a Marin 336W and Pop w/ a Marlin 1894C - should be fun!

Re: Hawg Meat
Like most game - depends on what they're eating. If they're eating corn from feeders, you are looking at some fine eatin. The age and sex of the critter afects this too of course - a young sow will taste much better than an old boar.

Killed 'em in all temps and never noticed a difference in flavor. As mentioned size, sex and food make the difference. Shoot the smallest one you see for the pit.
