Re: article ..... .30-30 Winchester
If I purchase a pre-64 Winchester 94 in 30-30, I will want to add an aperture sight-preferably either a vintage Lyman 66A or Redfield (don't know the model number). Can you all tell me if I will need to replace the front sight? I would shoot factory 150 or 170 gr bullets or their hand loaded equival...

Re: The Bowie Knife is finished
That's a very fine knife! You should be quite proud of it!!
I'm a very part-time knife maker. I appreciate the time and talent it takes to make a knife like this one.
Kudos!

Re: New Browning 92 in 357
I just got my B92 back from having a Wiliams FP sight installed.
Looking forward to taking it to a local indoor range soon and seeing how they help my old eyes.

Front Sight Options
Williams has put there FP aperture sight on my Browning B-92 in .357. I'll pick it up tomorrow. Their head gunsmith advised me that the front sight may need to be replaced. If it does need replacing, do you all have recommendations on what (whose) front sight I should consider buying? For instance-D...

Re: B92. Gone
There is a 1981 B-92 on GB now with a Lyman aperture sight. A B-92 in .44 sold for $660 recently. Prior to that a couple sold in the $800 range.

Re: Browning B-92
A B-92 in 44 Magnum just sold on GB for $550. Another sold for $600 recently. Thats less in some cases than a Marlin 1894. No dig on the 1894, but had thought in general that the B-92 had a pricing premium over the 1894. I just purchased a B-92 in .357. It shoots great, but have only been to an indo...

Prayers sent.
I've been in remission for one of my cancers for 15 years now after a biologic cocktail was used to attack cancer cells.
Those cocktails have come a long way since then! Let's hope they have it dialed in for your cancer!
Best!

Thank you.
Marlin 1894's are also a consideration.
Does anyone know if Browning ever produced the B-92 in a carbine?

Length of Pull Questions
I have been looking for a Winchester or Browning 92 carbine. At this point, I am not a Rossi fan from an esthetics perspective. I am only finding short rifles with the crescent butt plate. I don't even know if the Browning B-92 came in a carbine style. My uninformed thinking has been that it will be...

Re: Front Sights?
Thanks. I am very used to aperture sights. Began using them in 1960 when I started shooting NRA postal matches with a Remington target rifle.
How rugged are the fiber optic sights??? Are the hi viz sights equally good as FO?

Front Sights?
I have read a number of posts complaining about being unable to shoot good groups at 100 yards due to difficulty seeing the sights with old eyes. I'm in the same camp. I can't see the front sight clearly for very long, if at all. The XO front sight with a white vertical stripe is praised by some. Ha...

Re: Tactical rifles
I went with a Mini-14. Picked up a tactical model to get the shorter and stiffer barrel. Put a wooden stock on it and a 3 MOA reflex sight-Trying to decide if I's prefer a 2 MOA sight. It will do all that I want it to do and isn't as finicky about ammo or being cleaned as some are. There are way few...

Re: 1892 Receiver Strength vs 1894
....I would think that with a 44 Mag or 45 with Ruger loads, a 92 would get to the point where things would be very unpleasant and you would probably hurt yourself before you hurt your rifle. Someone mentioned the 454 Casull earlier. I read a couple of articles on it and if I recall correctly the o...

Re: 1892 Receiver Strength vs 1894
It's strange, but I haven't found any of the rifles mentioned at my local gun shows in SE Michigan or on the racks of my local gun dealers. No Marlin 1894's, no Ross 92's and no Winchester 92's? The specs on the websites don't provide length of pull info. I'll keep looking-another gun show is coming...

Re: 1892 Receiver Strength vs 1894
Thank you! I am not familiar with lever actions and their safe operation. So, I don't mind a safety and thought having one on the tang a good idea-where it is on my shotguns. It's a shame that Winchester made it so complex. I also don't mind the look of the Marlin cross bolt, but can understand why ...

Re: 1892 Receiver Strength vs 1894
Should the safety features of the new Winchester 1892 stop one from purchasing one? Are they much worse than the cross bolt safety on the newer Marlin 1894's? What other factors should be considered in deciding between a Win. 1892 versus a Marlin 1894 in either .357 or 45 Colt? I see that the 1892 w...

38-55 Versus 30-30 For Hunting?
I'm interested in purchasing my first lever action-a pre-64 Winchester carbine for deer and hog hunting in the woods of Michigan and at a friend's ranch in Texas. I'd appreciate your perspectives and advice on these 2 calibers. I'd also appreciate your suggestions of which Winchester carbine I shoul...
