Now here I am with a .380 LCP for myself and a .22 Magnum LCR for my wife. I do not think I would have enjoyed the colonel's approbation. Not so much the 22 WMR, but the 380 ACP has supposedly improved quite a bit with newer ammunition not available when he issued his condemnation of the cartridge....

ILLINOIS ccw fee is $150 for 5 years ..... $30 bucks a year. The state mandated class is 16 hours. Seems comparable with Michigan

Joe, with all due respect.... you should edit this post to ' I really, really want a SW36.' I don't have to see you shoot. I see a lot of middle aged guys, some real sportsmen, come through ccw classes every month. The all do ok on a square range with all the time in the world. A few see the light.....

My son went with a XD out of academy.
Traded for a Glock 26 when he went plain clothed....and he still has the glock as a lawyer.
For me it's a toss up. Glock is a tad easier to service.
Small of back isnt a very efficient way to carry....

The Rodeo Opry down on Excange Street in the Stockyard district is a good date night. Saturdays... cheap,,, no rowdy crowds and the music is always pretty good.

Side loaders can be topped off on the move without breaking the action open. I love the mag fed rifle... but reloading a 20 round box take awhile. Yea, I have at least 6 mags... but if your "out"- your OUT! I don't think I'd like to get into an extended firefight with a 94 or 336...... but...

I have owned Boulet's in the past... and thought highly of them. They were not bad to ride in or walk in and held up very well.

A 1911 guy mentioned something in a way I'd never thought of the other day (I think I heard it on TV but don't remember). A hand gun trigger should be just a tad under the weight of the gun. That way you cannot force enough in the press to upset the mass of the gun. I always figured around 4 pounds ...

Ironsides... you can salvage a broke bit if you grind by hand. I have a lot of "short" bits.... Any of those sharpening machines will eventually wear the wheels ... if the wheel isnt perfectly flat you won't get a good result. Free hand grinding requires a flat wheel too... if you do much ...

That's sad... speed loaders are not particualry speedy some times. Back in the day... I worked with a couple of old timers who could keep up with us "speedloader" guys ... and they were working out of dump pouches or loops. OKCPD still requires 18 rounds in 25 seconds (IIRC) just as a relo...
