Has anyone chronographed HSM 38 special Factory Cowboy RNFP Lead ammunition when Shot from a Rossi 92 with 16 inch barrel to see how much velocity gain there is compared to the Listed velocity for a pistol length barrel ?

The reality is most expanding bullets for 44 will not expand subsonically. I would say the only RNFP that would expand low speed are very soft cast and I dont know a lot about them so cant comment. FTX makes a good 357-140 and a 200 or 225 for the 44 that would work well at the speeds you want BUT you will have to load them; no ammo available. Unaware of any FTX 44sp at all. The 38sp is only a 110 gr that would certainly be supersonic from 16". Plus it's a different FTX that isn't really...

I think the ammo for the 586 is newer than you think. The 586 wasn't introduced until 1980. I'd try all of this ammo and see how it goes. Even if you lose a case it wont harm the gun. If you do, then I'd not shoot anymore of that particular ammo and dispose of it. I had already Had a Dan wesson 357...
