lyman 56a receiver sight

on the winchester model 71 aside from the bolt peep which i have on one rifle they offered as an option the lyman w71 receiver sight which about 1948 became a standard item. my question is what is the difference between this lyman w71 and the lyman no. 56a receiver sight? thanks john

erlmck: i appreciate for the information about the pressure im running in these loads.they are mild and not for hunting.also thank you for the tip about removing any stuck rifle case.john

thank you all for your help.i did use a paper clip and i did have a dental pick and wasnt able to feel anything.i noticed that when the pick or paper clip bottomed out it was always exactly to the web or bottom of the case about 1/4 inch up from the base of the case where the ring is.i will also nex...

thanks for the response. i will try the wire.these cases were full length resized because they are for lever action rifles.the ring was not present till i resized them.and most folk recommend full length resizing for lever actions.some of them were factory rounds fired and reloaded once. some were b...

i know that the bright ring you see on the head of a rifle case shows the case stretching from shooting and full length resizing but do you guys discard them at the first apperance of the ring which is what i have or reload them one more time.i shoot 348 in an original winchester 71 and a browning 7...

crs thanks for the heads up about recoil.actually because of your work about the 1895 and the 405 i was drawn to that caliber.i had read about your work with 300 and 400 grain bullets.i shipped my rifle to turnbull and will have the safety removed a front sight to work with the williams fp receiver ...

just saw this thread and have enjoyed reading it very much. i have a repo winchester 1895 in 405 a takedown model which i purchased not long ago for under $1000. i havent fire a round through it yet as i sent it to turnbull for some alterations. i remember distinctly how ugly i thought the 1895 was....
