Friend Texican, The "salts" had better have been removed from the bluing before it leaves the bluing shop or it will continue to rust and be a brown mess in no time. The bluing salts are killed in a bath and then soaked in oil to make sure it dont continue to work. :wink:

18 gr.IMR 4198 with the Lyman 311041 at 1590 fps does great in my .30-30`s.

That is a starting load. You can push it a lot more but the groups do open just a little. :D

I use the Lee R.E.A.L. bullet in most of my ML bullet guns. I started shooting them around 1970. They are good shooters and they will pass through a large deer like a fanny burp through a burlap bag! Copper Chor-Boy wraped around a bore brush does a good job whenever I get lead wich aint often.
Your bullet may be too hard or you are pushing it too hard. :wink:

You just have to buy sevaral different ones and give em a try. The Knight sabot with 300gr. lead bullets are the only ones I have used due to the local laws about ML and hunting. Yhey are accurate and easy to load. I have seen some at the gun club that were very hard to load and almost impossible to...

Friend , There were 39`s sold by sears that WERE factory D&T by Marlin for a side/barrel mounted scope. I have seen a couple in the last year that I believe were origional. Marlinman may have more on this.

:D My friend Tom Tabor in MT. has and loves the .375 H&H. He has killed many African animals with it.
At lower velocity, most of the Jacketed bullets made for the .375 would be almost like a solid on an animal as light as a deer. :D

Well, my Browning BT99 shotgun has a high gloss finish and I suspect it it the same. I think it is some kind of epoxy but have been told it is a laquer with a hardener added and buffed to a high gloss. My Browning 53 looks like the same stuff. Way harder than any oil finish. :wink:

The new stuff is close enough so as not to know the difference unless you load max loads. you may want to drop back a little . It is a good policy to start low and work up when any component is changed anyway.
Alliant is cleaner burning than Hercules was. I have had very good results with it. :wink:

I have read and heard that Rem. used assembly numbers for reference and started them over again after a batch was completed. There are several SN (assy.)#1`s in collections .
Many thousands of the Rem. pistols were made. They were high quality arms. :wink:
