What's not to like?
Built like a tank, easy to disassemble and clean, stainless steel and compact. I get 1206 fps avg with Federal High Velocity 158 JSP. It does let you know you touched one off but I don't find the recoil all that bad. I use it when camping, hanging out in PA. I use a Galco Speedmaster for carry. Tom

I'll have to post the answer later this evening. From all I have read so far, Marlin switched over from Micro-groove rifling to Ballard in the mid 90's. Excuse me for jumping into this thread....
By comparison 158gr Federal red box gets 1803fps in my 16 inch barrel. They shoot to about the same place, which is a happy coincidence. ...but I have a question...would anyone recommend that Federal round for hunting deer sized game?
