another vote for the 200Gr 6 hole mold. I myself did this some time ago and I used Round balls. I cast a bunch of 454 round balls and rolled them in Lee's Alox and shot them with about 3.5Gr bullseye and I had great results . One bad thing was that My handguns didn't have enough front sight to sight...

I have the Marlin 62M and I am shooting the Sierra 75Gr HP and getting .600" groops at 50 yards. Can't wait to see some crows in the fields or a weary fox running through the cut corn. This thing is sweet. I have the Marlin in 256WM and 30 Carb and 22WMG I like them all all though I have not wo...

Re: New Leverage: A .500 S&W Mag Leverguns Available NOW
Sure would like a nice little trapper in .475 Linebaugh! I got a Puma in 480 Ruger. In looking at the Grizzly Cartridge web site, the mv is only 100-150fps between the 480 Ruger and the .475 Linebaugh. I assume those are revolver barrel velocities. I would bet my 480 Ruger out of a Puma would be th...

Re: 35 Rem for cast bullets?
A better alternative? Why don't you put a 358 BBL on it and ream it to 358WIN instead. This was a popular conversion . You are not interested in hot loads and the 308 Brass is everywhere to make 358's from. That way if the gun gets sold down the line anyone who researches it will know what the gun w...

Re: Advice please Amadeo Rossi, 20" round barrel (blue) in .44
I have an older one and I have had experiance with several from my Cowboy days. Rossie rifles are hit or miss. You can't tell by looking what you have but you can fix the problems on them with a little work. I would buy the rifle at that price because the worst one I have see was still a OK shooter....

This is true for all guns. Including Contenders. Different front rest will change groop size. This could be from Hammer time -forearm width-and hammer strike itself moving the gun. TRUE they are for hunting but all shooters should know what there guns are capable of. When confrunted with eratic resu...

Alan, If you are haveing problems after glassing the stock. Try slugging your bbl and feeling for tight spots. I have found tight spots where the dovetails are on the bbl on 2 winchesters.Make sure that the bbl band is not binding and moving bullet impact. These are more things to ck. Firelapping mi...

Yes it was Jack. He did it with a plastic 55gal drum. Cut a sq hole on each end lined it with chicken wire and insulation. Made about 4 Plywood baffles. It works well. ONE thing you should do that he didn't is make sure the exit pressure is greater than the inlet. His is ballanced and you get the sh...

Mix up some epoxy and mix in some talcome powder and a dab of black paint. Fill the dovetail around the sight and smooth over .Let dry. If you ever have to remove the sight,The Epoxy will chip away. Get a Large Hood and mount it up. Then take that big boned girl to the Dance. J.Michael

Re: Barrel thickness under front dovetail--safety check
Forcing in a dovetail sight OR dovetail blank can cause a Dent in the rifleing. I am working out two right now. You want the sight to be tight but not hammered into fitting the dovetail. Tru slugging the dovetail and see if it is a Tight spot. You may have some work ahead of you. J.Michael

My +2 . I have been looking at this a while I am thinking of reaming a 35Rem To 358. This was done a lot in the 80's and I have a few thoughts on it. FIRST the advantage is not in getting an extra 80FPS the advantage is CHEAP BRASS! The 358 is made from 308Nato rounds with one pass through the FL si...

Survival poaching. Yes I have read this book  . It made you want to live off of the land. If you had a good vegtable garden and that book you could make a go of it. I cant see why you can't just shoot 410 Shot shells from it. They will chamber . Just might be a little long. Eather way Cutting down a 410 would be eassier than rounding over your brass. J.Michael
