I went a little different. Weaver 2 pc. base Warne QD medium rings and M8 leupold 4x scope. Scope is easy on and off. Notched the center of the bases and can use open sites. 94 AE 444

if you are looking at a 71 might as well go the 95 in 30-06. I didn't like the 71 I had that well. Go another BLR in a bigger bullet. Everyone has there own good ideas and they will all work. Just put together a 94AE in 444 for backup to my Encore in 300 win mag.

I will never have another firearm with ports. if ya can't handle the recoil find some thing smaller. BTW some of the new recoil pads are great for hard hitters.
