I like Titebond wood glue. It is cheaper than the gorilla glue that you find and most all of it dries completely clear. It has different strength levels too.

Most bullet co. that I have worked with recommend the .311 casting for 30-30 Marlin with microgroove to ensure you fill the grooves. I am sure the .357 probably will prefer an extra thousands or two for their bore size.

Is the choke still stuck? Try sticking it muzzle down into a container and soak it in acetone. If it's just stuck from plastic wad build up it should loosen up. But if it's over torqued you are screwed. If you can't remove a choke tube with your fingers it's too tight! And always lube the threads! ...

Several years back I picked up a pawnshop find REM 870 with a 28" barrel and a stuck Modified Choke. It has the cheap black coating and had surface rust freckling all over it. Cleaned the gun and barrel up with steel wool and rust and bluing remover and bought some Flat Black Krylon Grill Paint...

It looks like Winchester has updated their website for reloading data. I sent them an email about 6 months ago telling them that W244 has been out a while and there should be more load data available. They still need to get some CAT II or III Load Data for .44 Special but I doubt that will happen.

I recently tried to order a Mercury 25 hp outboard from Cabelas and Basspro both trying to take advantage of an advertised rebate. I called 3 times over a period of about a month and was never able to get the motor that I wanted. They constantly tried to push a motor that cost about $1200 more.

I still have a little Unique left and typically load a 240 grn LSWCHP at 7.0 grains. I have also been working with W244 which sits right next to Unique on the burn chart. I have pushed it up to 7.0 as well.

There is a pretty cool museum down in Columbus, NM, (the town raided by Poncho Villa). It has the 1st US airplane to be used in warfare during the Punitive Expedition. Also had lots of cool relics and guns.

Scott, I think S&W definitely improved the M19 when they came out with the fixed sight L frames. If I didnt have one of those, I think the M19 would be my preference.

When you go to the hodgdon site, WSF does not even show as an option for any weight of .44 Special Bullet. I prefer to use W244 as it sits right next to Unique on the Powder Burn Rate Chart. That is only because I have not seen another can of Unique since I bought my last one.

Years ago when I was involved in reenactments, they held required safety briefs. One of the cardinal rules as that you never point the gun directly at someone. You elevate or aim to the side of them. I am sure even Hollywood would have rules in place that would have prevented this.
