Sounds like a gummed up firing pin.
Get into the action and degrease well and light lube would be the first thing I'd do.

Bought this off epay as I liked the blade. It had rough jute type cord epoxied to the handle.
I tea stained some string and rewrapped the handle. Tonight I made this little sheath.

Re: OT - Anyone like playing with snakes
I don't mind snakes in general. About the only time they give me concern is when they are rattle snakes sleeping in the flower garden right by the front steps. We've found two small blackish snakes here in IL. No idea what they are. We caught one, one of our cats caught the other. In AZ we saw a bu...

So how accurate are the 30-06 leverguns?
BLR, 1895, fixed or td?
Is it really a 300-500 yard gun?
If you were to get a bolt gun and want wood, fixed sights, accuracy what would you choose?

I'm looking at a 30 cal rifle for distance shooting.
Can you tell me what your thoughts are regarding the 30-40 and 30-06?
I'm thinking 300-500 yards and it's been over 30 years since I shot a 30-40.
I have a vintage 30-30 already.

I bought mom a 327 SP101 only because at 70 and arthritis can make shooting painful,

Only because of the lighter load options.
