Bears got to eat too and feed their family The problem is there's a shortage of food for them if they had a feeding station way out away from the populated area like they do for deer they would go there instead of around the houses looking for food.

I have a Steven's/Savage single shot 22 long rifle, it has a lever
to work the action. It's a model 1915 number 24. It was missing the firing pin so I made one up to replace it out of bar stock and made a spare to put in the butstock in case it ever broke again works great looks good too.

Well, I think that's where the problem is, it's not getting a good hook on the case. Maybe need to contact a local gunsmith and see what he thinks. Perhaps contact Winchester also.

Just curious, does the parts catalog list more than one part number for the extractor? That is, different extractors for different calibers.
To me, it looks like the extractor claw is made at the wrong angle, it should be perpendicular to the case, not turned so that only the edge catches the case.

I've got one in 38 special, 4-3/4" barrel. I also have the birds head grip in addition to the standard plow handle.
It's a fun gun and is easier to handle for me. I carry it in a cross draw holster on a replica John Wayne money belt along with the full sized model P, SAA in 45 Colt.

A friend of mine once showed me a 1918 45ACP Colt revolver that had a bulged barrel, I removed the barrel and proceeded to remove the stuck bullet.
Turned out there were 3 or 4 bullets stuck in the bore.
I got a used barrel from Numeric Arms and got it back in working order.
