'92 Winchester 38-40 Sticky action/breechbolt-update
A cowboy gunsmith took my gun apart sitting at the kitchen table, cleaned all the parts, cut down the VERY stiff ejector spring and milled down the breechbolt pin a bit. Put it back together and now it’s working beautifully. This guy thinks the breechbolt pin had been taken out a one point and put...

Breechbolt--Is it the right one? Could an incorrect one fit?
My new '92 (new to me, it's 106 years old) 38-40, octogon barrel shoots fine in every way but... it cycles very stiffly. De-gunked but the problem persists
Thanks folks for all the good advice. I'm a beginner here and am very greatful because I don't have a good lever-gun smithy here in southern New Hampshire and I wouldn't otherwise know what to do. So here's the deal- I have two 92s. The round barrel built in '93 works just fine. I use it to compare ...

De-gunking a levergun
I just picked up a '92 Winchester (built in '02), 38-40, octogon barrel, beautiful patina. I tried cleaning it up, pulled out the magazine spring and follower, cleaned that out real good but the action is still kind of sticky. Is it safe to use a product like "Gunscrub" on this? I'm told t...
