OT SAA Brass grip frame
I`m in the market for a SAA 1873 in 45 Colt. Looking through the web-sites of some of Italian makers, I can see, that some of the revolvers are made with brass grip frames. I think, that it looks quite handsome, but: Back then, were they ever made with brass frames, or is this a replica thing ? Rega...

Re: Uberti copy of Colt Burgess rifle
I have one too (sorry its a 45 colt) and have had 150 shots through it. Fit and finish is very good and the action is very slick with short stroke. No need for additional gunsmithing work here. No jams so far, not even with a full magazine. The trigger, allthough not target grade, is far better than...

Of course, your "little country" WAS once the scourge of the World... So hoist a flagon, put on a horned helm, and raise the Uberti to Niefelheim and lay waste to Europe... It needs a good Viking Raid. Be careful......... I have send Hugin and Munin to watch Your movements, and ...

In my little country to get one of these. Uberti 1883 Burgess in 45 Colt. I havent had the time to shoot it yet, but its the first rifle ever, that I dont want to take apart, to slick up the action. Both action and trigger are smooth as butter. What do You think? http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...

Re: Sharps 1874 - Pressure
Thank You for all the answers so far. I must admit that I am still a little confused, but am I right in the following conclusions: 1. A Sharps is a stronger construction than a Trapdoor. 2. Allthough not the fit and finish of a Shiloh, an Italian Sharps is made of better steel than the original. 3. ...

Sharps 1874 - Pressure
I am now the lucky owner of a Sharps 1874 ( Italian made ) cal. 45/70. The plan is, later on, to use it for black powder shooting, but for for now it will have to be smokeless. The reloading data from various powder companys all shows loads around 30.000 psi. ( except for trapdoor loads around 17.00...

Odd dovetail size ?
I have just mounted a Lyman No.2 tang sight on my Italian made Sharps 1874 (Chaparral). I want to remove the rear buckhorn sight, and replace it with a slot blank or a fold down sight. The dovetail is measuring 0.480 and all the sights/blanks that I have come across are 3/8. Do You know if its possi...

OT Half-cock on Sharps
I have just been looking with my fingers on an Italian made Sharps 1874 ( Chaparral ) cal. 45/70. Why is there a half-cock posistion on the hammer? It can be loaded without touching the hammer. Is it some kind of a half-cock safety ala Winchester?

45-70 loads
Do anybody of You guys know, if the current line of Winchester or Uberti Hi-Walls 1885 can take the pressure of modern 45-70 loadings, or is it black-powder pressure only?
