38-55 with Universal/Unique?
G'day fellas, I'm looking for a smokeless load using the powders I have, if possible. Winchester '94 LF 38-55 using Starline long brass, Federal LR primer, 255gn RNFP .380" or 245gn RNFP .379" . I will also try AR2205/H4227 & AR2207/H4198. Up 'til now I have only been shooting 255gn RN...

Personally I would start with the RCBS Rockchucker Supreme kit and Lee die sets.

Which Marlin for target shooting ???
My 21yo son has recently decided, out of the blue, to get his rifle license and has expressed an interest in a Marlin leveraction, preferably 24" with receiver sight, medium recoil and good accuracy out to 100yds. He also wishes to draw on my reloading experience. His thoughts are on a 357mag b...

Years ago I bought some stuff in a small spray bottle from an auto accessories shop(forget what it was called) that was IIRC a clear acid spray that dissolved surface rust and rinsed off with water, prior to painting.

Thanks fellas for the info. I have 100 Starline cases but like them for smokeless powders and 200 of the thinner Winnies for the black stuff which I prefer. The Win SuperX rounds are listed at my LGS as $28AUS per box 20. As to snapping up once fired brass, that seems a bit of a joke here in Aus, .4...

Hi all. Locally I can only access Starline brass in .45Colt but desire more Winchester for reloading with black powder. Hey Tom, I've found the thinner Winchester brass fire-formed and neck sized only to be used solely for the one rifle(mine's a Marlin), plus a .454" 250gn RNFP or BigLube PRS45-250 RNFP with heavy crimp works well for me. 10.0gn Universal or 32-35gnVol fffg over a Federal LP primer works a treat...

Re: Single Actions
Yes..... leverguns ARE single action firearms.
IIRC the hammer movements which occur when pulling the trigger define whether the action is single or double.
ie. Single action involves the falling movement only, double action involves two movements, cocking & falling.
