Re: Ot: anti virus for win 98
It has been my experience that none of the current viruses will work on Windows98 , and so there is no need to use an anti-virus program. This is another advantage to using an outdated OS.

Lyman tang sight
I recently bought a Winchester model 1892 rifle in 25-20 that has been rebuilt. It came with a Lyman tang mounted peep sight. I think it is a Lyman #2 tang sight. I have used a peep sight on a 22LR target rifle, but this is the first time I have ever used a Lyman peep sight and so I don't know much ...

Re: modern vs. 1800's black powder
That and people back then knew that consistent granulation is the key to clean shooting and would re-corn their BP if necessary. I've brought it up before and done a bunch of testing to prove it... The cheap Chinese (Lidu) 3F I buy shoots cleaner than Swiss, if with a marginally lower velocity, bec...

Re: Aperture for Lyman tang sight
If this is a vintage Lyman, old syle, tang sight and not the new production Lyman How do I tell if it is the old style or the new style? I also have a couple other quesitons about it. This is the first time I have owned a rifle with a tang sight and don't know much about them, but I think it may be...

Aperture for Lyman tang sight
I have a Winchester model 1892 rifle with a Lyman No. 2 tang sight installed. The sight has a ½" screw in aperture with a hole that measures .056. Is there anyplace I can buy an aperture for this sight with a smaller hole in it?

How much does an Ithaca model 49 weigh? I've been looking for a very lightweight 22 lever action.

Re: Anyone with experience with Red Wolves?
In 1962 I saw a red wolf while hunting in a very large wooded area in eastern Iowa. It was the most regal and majestic wild animal I have ever seen. I figure it was probably the last wild wolf in Iowa because the government said they were extinct in this region by then. It was about 1/2 mile from th...

I used to have a 1894 trapper with 16 1/2" round barrel in 30-30 and I thought it kicked too hard. Something you might want to think about.

Re: Saw something odd while deer hunting.
In 1964 while hunting on the family farm in east central Iowa, I saw a red wolf. It was probably the last wild wolf in Iowa, as they were supposed to be extinct in the midwest at that time. I have seen lots of coyotes and feral dogs, and this wolf did not look like or act like any of those. Its beha...

Re: My eyes and sixguns ...
Bill in Oregon, don't be discouraged. I think most people would be very happy if they could shoot a 3" group at 25 yards with a revolver. I have gotten to that stage in life where the sights are fuzzy and I can't shoot the tight groups I used to. Also because of serious health problems and chro...
