OT Is a covered holster concealed carry?
I know it is a kinda crazy question. On the one hand a holster in full relief, even if you can hardly see the gun quite likely no more evident than a lot of concealed carry, it is obvious that you have a honking big holster there, and what you have in it, unless you are bluffing. On the other hand, ...

I looked at some old threads, but it seems like a moving target, on quality. What is the current thinking on whether this gun is a buy or not. One thing I didn't like the sound of is that apparently it voids the warranty if you take it apart. That combined with the marinecoat, which is not going to ...

As fabulous as the 45-70 is for everything from mastodons to squirrels, it would be nice if at least one maker would offer the 50 alaskan in some rifle. I can get an 1886 in demountable, 12" barrel, stainless, blacked out with a muzzle break, and that is just one maker, Chiappa. The 50 is a cer...

Not sure exactly what you are asking. But as mentioned, stainless is often weaker, however it wears better in some cases. Strength is only so important, one does not need stronger than strong enough. To state the obvious, you drill the hole first, then lay out the final position of everything else after the hole is drilled.
Another option if a two piece stock is an option is to rout the hole, then assemble both sides of the forestock.

They have the 223s in the non-bull/standard barrels at some ridiculous prices. I was wondering how much difference in accuracy there would be. The .223 is a pretty small hole. Around here, one doesn't see a lot of groundhogs, so the rate of fire wouldn't be that heavy.
