Pete, when you're in Vegas, you might as well take your group to one of the local gun clubs where you can rent full-auto weapons. One of them has crew-served weapons as well....we're talking Ma Deuce and M249 stuff. I don't think you'll get that chance in Australia!! I know it's not lever-related......

The Mrs and I just got back yesterday from a 2-day halibut fishing trip in Homer, Alaska. We do this at least once every few years. My Browning A-5. Handles like a dream in the pheasant fields and on the skeet range. Too pretty to get wet and muddy in the rice paddies. For the duck & turkey blinds, where I know the gun is going to be wet & muddy, I'm considering that new Remington Versamax. Ugly as sin, but handles any l...

I was once in the process of thinning out the safe as well. Sold off a couple of safe queens to make room for more interesting shooters. Then I got smart and removed the internal shelving and racks. I now wrap the nice ones in gun socks and by storing some muzzle down, I can get another half-dozen i...

Mauser action bedding question

Does anyone happen to know if sporterized Mausers, in general, "prefer" to be fully bedded, including the barrel channel, or do they perform better with a free-floated barrel? I have a rifle where the previous owner completely bedded the stock, including the barrel channel. I've gotten the...
