Never touching a scale again and going completely by volume. BTW, Lee actually has a decent write up in their manual on the merits of volume loading. I'll have to go read it again. I've read that section a number of times too. Primarily because I'm lazy and don't like the process of verifying every...

When I had a .375W, I loaded it with Barnes 255 grs FN and 34 grains of Norma 200. The velocity was about 625 meters/second, which should be about 2000 fps. Pete Last year I made a large run of 375 Win with the Hawk 250 grain on a custom order. The fellow that ordered them did a group buy where he ...

It has been my experience that the Lee powder measures don't always (almost never) match the powder weight it is referenced to. I think the Lee companny knows this and always measures thier powders significantly less than the weight it represents. When doing precise "safe maximum" reloadin...

250 Grain 375 Winchester Load
I just arrived at the 375 Winchester depot - buying a 375 Winchester. I want to use the 375 for pigs, black bear, deer, and whatever else steps in front of it that I'm tagged to shoot - out to 200 yards. My load goal is to launch a 250 grain Hawk bullet at 2,000 fps MV. I know this is a tad optimist...

Re: The 1886 is "Twice the Gun" of a 1895
I've had both, and was very pleased with both. The '86 is a stronger action, but if you are using normal loads, this won't really be a factor. My Marlin 1895 was made in the mid 80's. The fit and finish was excellent as well as the function. Some advantages of the 1895: 1. easier/quicker levering. ...

Some reading for you http://www.leverguns.com/articles/paco/4570_leverguns.htm Read it. IMNSHO, the Marlin cannot handle 45-70 Govt "+P" loadings. The modern made 1886 (Miroku) can. And your "not so humble opinion" is based on what? According to Sundles of Buffalo Bore, their 45/70 Magnum ammo will work in the Marlin 1895. http://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=pro...
