Re: Woes of the hunt - Win 94 30-30 was wrong equipment
I have the XS ghost ring set up on my hog gun, a 45/70 Marlin. I like it so much I put an XS front sight on my 1895 Win 30-40. That one has an old Redfield peep on the rear. Works well. I always thought scopes on lever guns were like tits on a bull.

Most of my rifles have iron sights. I really like the Ashley (XS) ghost rings and several wear them. I like the white line in the front sight for low light situations. My single shots have various apeture sights , Redfield, Parker Hale and Shaver Soule style. I had my eye doc make up some glasses ju...

I have a model 1895 and buying the gun is just the start. You will need decent sites, look at the XS sights (formerly Ashley). I'm 99% sure that isn't a Redfield, the construction is wrong. BSA purchased car loads of surplus arms and reworked them and sold them as new. There were many variations and I would bet this is one. The sight could be a Parker Hale or an Aussy product. If you look at the base, it looks like it wasn'...
