Blaine, keep your eye out for a Sig P6. German police trade ins 9MM. Single stack aloy frame w/ de cocker. Da/sa Best little carry gun I ever had. First wave came thru about three years back for under $250 with two mags, holster, now maybe $400 if you could find one. Ugly but a great shooter.

Sighted in with some factory Winchester 200 gr silver tips I had. Getting some groups around four inches (5 shots) at 50 yds with a makeshift rest. Should do better when I use my hand loads. Will be trying some of your suggested recipes.

I've got the Microstream USB. Rechargeable! During summer, the charge lasts a couple months, (long days). Entering fall, we'll see. Made a little leather side saddle on my Buck folder carrying case. It's part of my EDC now.

I picked up a newly released Ruger GP100 44 Special five shot wheel gun a couple years back. Ruger was thinking right when they put rear sights with lots of elevation adjustments on the gun. Good solution! I have used a needle nosed pliers inserted in mouth and give a little twist. Adds a step, but would get the job done. I was just started casting/powder coating for a 25-20 Winchester 92 that had a relined barrel. Turned out to be just the thing for ground squirrels!

I've also found the little clearance notch at 12 o'clock above the chamber so full of dried grease, gunk and other goodies that the extractor couldn't drop down over the rim of the cartridge to grab it. Griff, spent many a night in my sleeper at the Walmart in Goodland. Would take my hay loads straight south on 25, cross out of Kansas at Elkheart, cross the okie panhandle and hit my dairy for delivery just south of Dalhart Tx. Bypass five scales on I25 in Colorado and New Mexico that route.

I have in my possession a Winchester 74 semi auto 22 short made in the late 30s that was shipped to the British Isles, stamped "not English make" and with British proof marks. The barrel was threaded (I suppose for a silencer). Wish it could tell me it's stories!

That's a nice rifle. The ones with the safety on the lever can be de-cocked like was described above. He later tang mounted safety's, not possible. My 99 well is dry at the moment, but I'm sure one will find its way into my safe one of these days

I sure like mine! Mine is a NWTF model, 22 Mag over 410, will ground sluice a grouse at 40 yds. Short, light, took a little synthetic grease to get it to open better (real stiff when new). Would like it better in 22 LR, but they were scarce when I bought mine.

I got rear ended by a smartphone user while in my Semi with an loaded 8000 gal water tanker stopped waiting to cross a highway in Wyoming. Hardly felt the impact, but it wrecked his pickup.
