Re: Ruger/Marlin 1894 Classic 44 Magnum
Well so far I am very pleased. Ran a mixture of factory and handloads through it today, mostly 44 Mag level. A note, the Magtec 240gr was peppy and accurate, only factory ammo I could get my hands on. 20240505_105907.jpg First 10 shots at 50 yards, made some adjustments and ran another 40 through it...

Ruger/Marlin 1894 Classic 44 Magnum
Got the 1894 back from North Carolina today. They replaced the forearm, mag tube, forearm band and screw. I am glad they didn't change the barrel, this rifle is accurate! Hope to function test this weekend.

All this 480 talk, took the Bisley out and ran a few rounds through it. Burned up the last of the 355gr I had loaded, rang the steel at 50 yards every pull of the trigger, and a satisfying ring it is! A lever action breech loader would compliment the 5 shooter quite well!

Sure wish either Rossi, or Ruger would get some new 480 Ruger leverguns in circulation. I would love to have one, but 2K is awfully steep for a Rossi.

Well anymore I have trouble shooting more than one at a time, so depending on the day, I would choose the 32-20, 357, 44, 45 Colt, or 480. Some days its all about the Freedom Arms 454,which I shoot with mid range loads.

So, if I buy a product for $100 in 1999 dollars, and sell same product for $200 in 2024, have I turned a profit? Or have I just adjusted for inflation? We have been living under an anti "American" government for decades.

I'm really feeling that purchasing a new mass produced firearm these days is a stuff shoot. A week ago I picked up a new Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag. After taking it home and doing a cleaning and lube job, loaded up 100 rounds of cast and jacketed bullets. I picked up a new one in 44 Mag yesterday. She shoots a mite low, will see if they'll send me a shorter front. I would love one in 32-20, not likely to happen unless I find a decent priced Italian jobber. Next would be the 45 Colt, which I loaded more rounds for than I can count, and then a 38-40 or 44-40, not real particular long as I'm wishful thinkin here.

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. Oh, the almost 500fps increase in velocity is at least 90% of why it expanded so well and stopped in the 4th jug.
