You keep the ones your soon-to-ex doesn't know about, and that you bought used without any paperwork.

Your wife will not have a photographic memory of every gun that you own, especially if you trade
all the time.

(You weren't stupid enough to keep a detailed inventory that she can access, were you?)

You negotiate over the rest.........

not a fun scenario --- but i actually do have my firearms segregated between -- 4473 gun store purchases ---- and private party purchases -- i guess the theory is - you can have my documented purchases? if the chocolate hits the fan? --- but my private party stuff is in a canoe somewhere waiting to be tipped over?

I also have silencers and am a veteran with a former SC though so i am likely on all the watch lists out there

The more guns you have, the less likely you'll get divorced! I'm not selling or giving half of mine to anyone else as long as I'm above ground. My wife has put up with it for 50 years, and I sure ain't going anywhere yet!

"...Your wife will not have a photographic memory of every gun that you own, especially if you trade all the time...."

I was thinking about that the other day, and I don't even know myself. I asked one of my friends who has quite a bit more money than I do, and consequently quite a few more firearms, If he thought he could accurately list every gun he owned. He thought about it for a while, so I thought maybe he was actually going to tell me a number, which wasn't what I was after because I think that a rude question to ask somebody, but he was just thinking if it would be possible. He finally answered and said "I think I could come up with a list that would be within about fifty guns I either thought I still had and don't - or do have but didn't remember buying - so I might be about within about ten or fifteen per cent..." I think I'd have about the same percentage of error if I tried, although for me that would only mean that I'm 6 or 8 guns off...

It is kind of fun when you're looking for a scope or set of reloading dies you thought you had or something like that, and you're rummaging through your safe or other gun stuff, and you find a gun that you forgot you had... :D NOT so fun when you keep looking for that certain gun or accessory you forgot you sold or traded ten years ago though...

Sounds like maybe he was pretty stupid to me, generally speaking.
