New 38-55

Post by TX50Cal »

Well went by my friends gunshop today and was finding him a sight on the computer when he walks in and says check this one out. It was a Winchester 94 Oliver Winchester commemorative in 38-55. Gun was in perfect condition but whoever had it before squared the butt stock and replaced it with a 3/4" buttpad. Gun is gaudy with its gold plated receiver and trigger but for $550 I couldn't pass it up. Always wanted a 38-55. Gun has very nice wood with lots of figure, I believe it is a 24" Octagon bbl, nice checkering. I went ahead and gave him $200 and he put it in the back for me. here is a link to one online http://www.gunsinternational.com/detail ... ng=cid=560
Any info would be appreciated on rifle and caliber.

The .38-55 is the unsung hero of the case head family.

I agree with that. Sorta like the 8x57mm Mauser and the .473" case head family.

The Holy Bible teaches that we are NOT TO COVET things that belong to others.

But I sure admire your rare beauty! I have some envy going on, too.

Anyone publish a comprehensive chart of cartridges by FAMILY? It is fascinating.
