Re: Unloading lever action Rugerlins…
Not having handled one yet, it looks to me like he has not fully loaded the round past the loading gate. So then he just pushes the gate in the round just pops out.
If you look at the other rifles the gates appear the same length as the Ruger. But the cartridges is past and a bit under the gate on all but the Ruger.
Until I can handle one myself, I'm not sure I believe this.

I'm not sure what this guy would have to gain by making this video if this didn't really work. He posts tons of videos testing various bullets for velocity and gel performance. I've watched all his videos testing 30-30 ammo. He loves lever guns and seems like a straight up guy.
Pretty sure I've read an article in some gun mag that also mentioned this feature on the new Ruger marlin 1895s. Not sure if it also works in the 336 and 1894 though.

In response to the video, I just went out to my workshop, loaded 5 rounds into my Ruger-made Marlin .357, pushed down on the loading gate to see if they would slide out the loading gate and they would not.
The gun shown in the video was a model 336; the one I tried it with was a model 94.
Out of curiosity I went out again and tried the same thing with my model 95 Guide Gun in .45-70, a transition model barrel-stamped PI. Pressing down on the loading gate did indeed push the rounds out part way and I was able to remove them with a bit of effort. I imagine that if the inside front edge of the loading gate opening were smoothed, the rounds would pop right out.

Yes this is for real. It's how I unload, if and when I do. I use a cartridge to depress the loading gate... there was a Swedish moose hunter who could unload his levergun in seconds.

I can unload my mdl 94 Winchesters the same way... maybe not as smoothly as this Ruglin, but... nothing new here. I can also unload my Uberti 1873s in the same manner. Again, maybe not as smoothly, but not impossible.

Re: Unloading lever action Rugerlins…
I once got a 7mm08 round mixed up with some .30/30 shells on a table. It was out hunting in a hut in the middle of nowhere and no tools and only a candle. Anyway I had loaded that 7mm08 cartridge, jacked it halfway through the action and jammed it solid.
So I had to take it apart by candlelight and guide that cartridge back down through the action and out the loading gate; first job was to unload the .30-30's backwards out the mag tube. It was not as easy as in that video at all! But it was a Winchester 94.
It took three hours to fix this. More experience added to my character.
