92 Bee

Post by GunnyMack »

So awhile back I posted about this 92 with a 65 barrel installed, it has a Monte Carlo with cheek piece for scope use and it's been drilled for a side mount.
I've shot it some with cast and jacketed. I finally got time to shoot some more 50yd groups today.
1680 powder with 46gr Hornady hp bullets. And 1 group with the Speer 46 flat point. It appears that 13.2gr is the sweet spot so far. I'll load some more at 13.2, .3, .4, .5 and see if it gets better or worse.

These loads I was trying Agulia small pistol primers. That being said, with hotter chargers I had 3 the pierced, 2 quite badly!

Those that did not pierce sure did flow into the bolt face.
Also shot 2 groups with lilgun, meh.
Oh and I was still making scope changes !

Wow, those are some soft primers. I don't have any of the Aguila, but I have some Rem #1-1/2's that these are probably clones of.

Yes I'm surprised that I had that much primer flow.
I have to check my stash for other pistol primers to try.

So the 3 pierced primers were a bear to remove! 2 of the anvils were gone( must be in the receiver!) The 3rd I was able to remove with the sizing die. It took a bit of small punch work to fold the cup enough to distort it and pry them out.
Regarding the excessive primer flow, I looked at some factory loads I also shot previously and there was a lot of flow on those Winchester primers also. I guess the bolt face is eroded. No big deal with rifle primers but ill not use those agluias for these 218s!

Maybe CCI or White River Energetics are harder / thicker.

I have some CCI small pistol magnum I'll try but also Winchester and CCI small rifle as well as Federal AR match.
I believe that it's the bolt face eroded away or large firing pin hole...

I get it ... no support for the primer so it takes to flowing around the end of the firing pin.
