Not sure I ever want to shoot anything bigger than my Redhawk or Super Blackhawk in 44 Mag or 45 Colt, personally....

Quite a in depth and well researched piece. Nothing demonstrates expertise and authority like a husky man laughing hysterically after every shot shooting household items one handed a 5 yards lol. Cant wait for the book to come out! :D

Kinda my thoughts as well.

However you have to admire the fact that he's evidently got a financially successful YouTube channel just doing the same redneck hillbilly stuff a lot of folks doing their backyards every weekend....

I grew up poor, so when he recklessly destroys stuff like throwing tables it kind of rankles me, but I guess in the big scheme of things it's not that big a deal.

It may have been his 100th attempt after a lot of editing, but I did notice he made a left-handed one hand shot with that 500 Smith & Wesson on a can of peas...!

When I was younger I probably would have put a revolver like that on my "must-have" list; now I'd much rather spend my money on another 32-20.

Come on Doc, you know you need a 500 revolver to go with your Big Horn 89! :D

If that BFR was mine I would change that brake , only port from sides and up to the top to help keep the muzzle down a little more. But then again I wouldn't buy one of those to begin with...

Is this 500 too long for a 1886? Or would a 1895 be more appropriate? It is almost three inches long, so about the length of the old Mauser battle cartridges. I would shoot it in say a Ruger No. 1, but in a handgun I think I would pass.

I've seen (but never shot) a 45-70 revolver, and that's a pretty long/huge cartridge. Also a 444 Marlin.
The thing I actually DO like about the 500 S&W (at least in a carbine/rifle) is that it is short enough for a short lever-throw, and fairly high magazine capacity (7+1 in my BHA89 which is about the same size as a Marlin Guide Gun).

I just don't have the hand strength or testicular fortitude to shoot a handgun that recoils more than a 44 Mag Redhawk or Super Blackhawk (and the latter needs a Bisley grip for me to like it). A gun as big as these 500 S&W revolvers or bigger, is so ungainly I'd just as soon have a carbine or 'short rifle'; at least then I could likely actually hit the target... :D

That is more than I want to try. No, I would never tell anyone that they should not get a firearm like that. Want it? Get it!
I am glad someone shoots stuff like that.

I shoot the Barnes 275 grain at 1900 fps as my normal load in my .500 sw. The recoil is much less than my 3 inch SW 29 in 44 magnum with 300 grain bullets. The 6.5 inch .500 is pretty heavy, its ported and it has very good recoil absorbing grips. I really like it for hunting.

The .500 is too short for an 1886. I run both a 50 Alaskan and a 50-110 in Winchester 1886's. So, the 500 would be like a 38 Smith and Wesson, the 50 Alaskan a 38 Special and the 50-110 would be a .357 Magnum in a length comparison. The .500 SW is way over the pressure limit for a Marlin 1895. With a lot of money and a good gunsmith you could get a Winchester 1895 to work.

I was talking about the 500 Bushwacker cartridge in the video. Apparently it is a stretched 500 S&W to fill the BFR long cylinder

I see. I have no clue on that one.
