Colt 1872 Open Top
Colleagues: every now and then, I have a temptation for a Colt 1872 Open Top, .44 Special.
My question: does the rear barrel sight have any windage adjustment? From the pictures I have seen it does not appear so.

Appreciate any information.

Ray, I had one I got from Buffalo Arms some years ago in .44 Russian. Possibly the most pleasant sixgun I have owned -- and accurate to boot.

That is a pretty nice looking firearm, would like to handle one someday.

+1 on both counts. I have one too and these are very fun!

I have never seen an 1871/1872 in person. But from the photos it looks like they retain the safety notches on the rear of the cylinder. Is this the case?

I have two 7.5'' that i enjoy. The sights are a bit hard to see one handed at arms length but they run great with black powder. Poi for mine is pretty close with smokeless but around 3 to 4 inches high with black using around 30gr fff and a 200gr bullet. With the sun behind me and blacked out sights i can keep 5 shots on a paper plate at 25 yards. Not 50 yards small game getters but you'd be well heeled in a 1872 saloon or mining camp.

Colleagues: thanks for the responses. My big drawback to "scratching that itch" is the pistol sights and my eyes. At age 78, my eyesight even with glasses is not as sharp as it once was.
Again, thanks for the feedback. "Gonna need ta" rethink this over. Cheers!
