32-20 range report

Post by TedH »

I got a new mold from Accurate Molds, and as you'd expect from Tom's molds, it's dropping some beauties. I sized them to .314" and with lube and gas check they are spot on 115 gr. cast from wheel weight alloy.
I loaded up a few different charges of Unique from 4.0 to 5.5 gr. 5.0 was the sweet spot as you can see here. This target was shot from only 50 yards, but 4 of the shots are under 1 moa! Velocity was 1312 fps with an extreme spread of 30, SD of just 10 fps.
I'm pretty happy with that considering the original buck horn sight, and my questionable eyes.

Nice shooting!

I've been a big fan of the .32-20 for a long time. I bought a Model '92 while I was just out of college and it was eevery penny I had at the time, but that $438 was some of the best money I've ever spent. :D

It's a Model 1894, made in 1895.

I'm drooling over that 1894 Sir! That is a fine looking bullet and it shoots as well as it looks.

I had posted before that I found a Marlin 94CL for the right price during Obamas reign. I cast Lyman 115 gr flat points over 4 gr of unique which yielded 1180 in my 22 inch barrel.I now haven't shot it in a while but keep a box of 110 gr cast hp over 10 gr 2400. Both loads kill woodchucks and coyotes quick. I like it!
