I took my wife shooting today

Post by Walt »

I took my bride of 39 years and the mother of our children shooting today. This doesn't happen more than a few times a year and I relish each time we go. I had gotten her a belly band holster and she did some belly band to gong drills which she improved upon each time she reloaded her pistol. She'd had some issues with flinch in the past but today she did great and her confidence soared. We'll work on her stance and more rapid target acquisition the next time.

She was enthused by her shooting a few days ago so I took my wife shooting again this morning. She went through 100 rounds doing a drill in which she drew her DA/SA auto from her belly band holster, hammer down with one in the chamber, then did the long D/A pull, fired two quick shots, took a couple of quick steps to the left, two shots and two quick steps to the right and so on. She did great, working with the idea that an adversary might jerk the trigger and shoot low/left and the principle to always keep moving.

Best woman a man can have. Mine could shoot everything from her Ruger .22 pistol to my M-1 Garand . Now she shoots on God's team..

Well done. When I met my wife in 2011 she had bought a Glock 3 months before and had a class to try to get a CCW In Southern Kalifornia. She now teaches women's classes and invites me to go shoot with her women's group every now and then. This was her last week-end. If you go to Gunsite look for her in the office where she decided to work

Sorry she had to move to the big leage so soon, but hopefully you'll get to join up when it's your turn. Just watch out - she might have kept practicing, and be better'n you by then... :o

It will be two years next month, although it seem like yesterday. 52 years full of love for each other. At the range , on the bay or just being together. What more could a man need.
