The scope has no marks on it and the lenses are bright and clear -- and thanks to the seller for spelling "Unertel" WRONG
when he listed it on GunBroker -- as nobody else saw it and the "buy it now" price was a couple $100 less than it really should have been.The Low Wall did seem to have a burr in the action when I first got it; as the front trigger alone took over 12 pounds of pressure to drop the hammer. Not that I will use that trigger alone too much, but it has smoothed up some as it's been dry-fired and cycled with snap caps (plastic screw anchors or once-fired 22s). I'm pretty happy with the red-tinged finish of the stock and the case colors are OK for what they are (not "real" case-hardened, but done with a finishing process). Overall, it's a really nice replica of the Winchester 1885 single shot Low Wall rifle.
She shot OK the first couple of times out, but I wanted to try some better ammo and I also needed to shim the rear mount up. Today, she shot really well with Wolf Match Target ammo. See the bench setup and a 50-yard target below, shot after taping up other holes from sighting in with other ammo. This was the best group of the day, and she'll repeat this -- IF I do my part and hold her well. "Not too tight, not too loose" just how the lady likes it.
It's official -- she's a keeper!
