Oh Winchester, what ever has happened to you.

I picked a new Winchester 94 legacy in 30-30.
Within 10rounds the cartridge stop snapped!
It snapped because feeding the magazine is so difficult.
What ever has happened to Winchester come 2000 is shameful.
All my hopes have shattered.

So, do I return it or fix it??
Sleep on it I guess.
In the mean time has any one welded one up?
I recall building one up with weld once.
Any tips?

Update.
I think I found out why the brass rim is fouling up.
They have not relieved the steel enough!

Anyone come across this? I seem to recall someone once had to use a Dremel tool to open the magazine mouth in the receiver.

Sorry I was ranting earlier. My frustration was overwhelming me!
Now I can see some hope.
It is though, such a shame Winchester, the great Winchester went this way just before their demise.
Hopefully soon I will have a good rifle. I've also stoned the trigger a little but that may take a few attempts. The sears are so fine you cannot rush it.

It was very close to the timeframe that I got My Legacy in .45 colt...............The Bluing and the stock finish was A+....but the action was so over sprung You could hardly work the lever .........The Trigger pull could be measured by draft horses.....IFFF it were Mine I'd gladly give it away . and then look for a really GREAT ROSSI that You can make better. ........

Hi Nath, so sorry for your troubles my friend, particularly as you are in the UK where options are more limited (I think Commiefornia is the same or working on being the same though). You are smart guy and seemed to have figured it out. I'm sure there are better parts out there made of better materials that might be worth looking into but your welded piece will probably do. Sorry for my USA companies lack of quality. -Tutt

nate did my rossi m 92 had ejection issues on certain brands of ammo and bullet styles. now feeds and ejects anything i put through it!

Trigger is improved with a smooth first stage and no hammer camming but still heavy so I will be revisiting there.
This has been a massive let down. I'm not particularly overwhelmed with my repair but I guess I will soon forget it if all else goes well.

If there is one good thing about a 94 it's that they are easy to fix and work on!

The quality of most guns out on the market today is down overall in general. Most places no longer employ true gunsmiths, but rather focus on one task and they are not even required to master that. I used to think that I would like to have a nice Colt Revolver, however, Colt is notorious for not throwing parts away even if they are out of specs. Alot of those parts end up in Commemorative Guns that they feel will never be fired or even the cylinder turned.
